Summer Intern | Earth Finance

The Tone:
This is a summer internship at Earth Finance, located in Seattle, WA or New York, NY. Earth Finance works with partners to build sustainable and financially sound futures. Interns will play a crucial role in supporting this mission by contributing impactful analysis and research. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain a deep understanding of how to drive large-scale change through sustainable corporate, financing, and policy tools to mitigate corporate risk and maximize sustainable business growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Model Building: Build sustainability and financing models to analyze the business impact of new technology adoption and innovative business models.
• Methodology Development: Further methodologies for measuring and quantifying the co-benefits of climate initiatives and related investments.
• Impact Reporting Support: Support the development of critical impact reporting initiatives.
• Client Research: Conduct custom research to build compelling and insightful client-facing deliverables.
• Client Collaboration: Collaborate with Sustainability teams at client organizations to align financial, expense, and corporate reporting with ambitious climate transition goals and objectives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Masters Candidates with a strong foundation in areas critical to Earth Finance’s mission, such as corporate sustainability, financing strategy, water and nature strategy, impact reporting, spatial finance, or geospatial technology.
• Experience: 3+ years of professional work experience, including proven experience designing, building, and launching new business models, particularly those focused on circular and regenerative principles.
• Skills: Strong research skills and the ability to quickly distill information from various sources into relevant and actionable context; clear and direct communication skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas into actionable client takeaways; competency and comfort with the Microsoft Office Suite and Google products; comfort and curiosity in asking “why” when navigating the inherent ambiguity of climate data and business uncertainty, with a keen interest in applying first principles analysis and boundary conditions to complex problem-solving; and a profound passion for sustainable business solutions, coupled with academic and/or professional experience in sustainability, corporate strategy, financial analysis and modeling, climate policy, and/or geospatial technology.
• Bonus: Prior experience within specific sectors such as corporate sustainability strategy, financing strategy, water and nature strategy, impact reporting, spatial finance, or geospatial technology.
