American National 2026 Summer Internship Program

Our Internship Program is specifically designed to offer young professionals invaluable corporate experience beyond the classroom. Interns will not only support their respective departments but also gain opportunities to attend professional development sessions, volunteer within the community, and participate in company-sponsored social events.

Program Logistics:

  • Program Dates: Monday, June 1st to Friday, August 7th, 2026
  • Schedule: Full-time (Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week)
  • Compensation: Paid hourly

Internship Program Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited institution
  • Must hold a Junior standing or higher (May 2026 grads are welcome)
  • Must possess a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be able to commit 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday
  • Must be able to work onsite in the posted location of the role

What We’re Looking For:

  • Candidates currently pursuing courses in finance, accounting, insurance, economics, or investments
  • Basic understanding of finance concepts and their practical application in a typical life insurance company
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Access, Word) is a must
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Sound problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail with high-level accuracy
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and balance changing priorities

What You Can Expect To Do In The Role (Key Responsibilities):

  • Partner with other teams such as actuarial, tax, investment, legal, and risk management, building crucial relationships
  • Optimize current workbooks for capital and financial planning work
  • Perform thorough analysis on the performance of targeted business segments
  • Build peer studies and collect market intelligence
  • Support automation initiatives on existing processes, with the goal to streamline workflows
  • Develop methods for analyzing data and reviewing trends to support decision-making
  • Analyze and project investment results on a $100 Billion portfolio consisting of fixed income, real estate, equity, and alternative asset classes
  • Analyze, optimize and project capital required to support a growing insurance business under rating agency and regulatory capital frameworks
  • Analyze and project key drivers of insurance company earnings and Return on Equity across both GAAP and regulatory accounting frameworks
  • Develop insightful reports to present to the senior management team
  • Assist with a variety of projects that focus on enhancing profitability
