Summer Camp Staff | Culver Summer School & Camps
The Tone:
This is a seasonal role at Culver Summer School & Camps, located in Culver, IN. Culver cultivates leaders and responsible citizens by developing the whole individual through integrated programs. This role is crucial for delivering a world-class summer camp experience, ensuring the safety and well-being of young people, and helping them build self-esteem, confidence, and leadership skills. What You’ll Actually Do
• Camper Supervision: Ensure the safety, well-being, and positive experience of campers/students across various camp programs for ages 7-17.
• Instruction & Mentorship: Provide guidance and teach specific skills in academic, athletic, or specialized activities, assisting campers/students in achieving their goals.
• Role Modeling: Consistently act as a positive example, demonstrating honesty, self-discipline, and strong leadership both within and outside the camp.
• Rule Enforcement: Know and enforce all camp rules, regulations, and safety protocols, maintaining professional boundaries with all campers/students and staff.
• Program Support: Collaborate with other staff, accept supervision, and consistently report to work to perform assigned duties that support camp operations and program goals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduate of High School or equivalent, and at least 18 years of age.
• Experience: Demonstrated desire and ability to work effectively with children/teenagers. Prior teaching, coaching, or camp staff experience is preferred for specific roles like Instructors or Administration.
• Skills: Efficient communication, positive role modeling, honesty, self-discipline, consideration, and cooperation. Strong leadership skills, ability to accept supervision and guidance, and good health, vitality, and physical stamina. COVID-19 vaccination is required for all staff, with medical or religious exemptions available for non-camper/student-facing positions.
• Bonus: At least one year of college is highly preferred. Specific professional certifications (e.g., lifeguard certification, Indiana Boating License, US Sailing certification) may be required or preferred for specialized positions like Naval or Waterski Staff.
