Job Description: Summer Brand Design Intern (Chicago)
This is a full-time, paid internship in Gensler’s Chicago office running from June 3rd to mid-August. Candidates must be available for the entire duration.
Responsibilities:
• Contribute design expertise to various project types (environmental, print, digital, and brand development).
• Work under the mentorship of lead designers, gaining experience and insight into project processes.
• Participate in all project phases, from conceptual designs and presentations to schematic design, design development, construction documents, and production.
• Collaborate with architects, interior designers, digital designers, and strategists to seamlessly blend physical environments with branded experiences.
• Participate in concept design and strategic project visioning.
• Gain knowledge of the spatial design process through large-scale design and understanding technical drawings.
• Collaborate with fellow interns on a student-led community project.
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Art, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, User Experience, or a related field. Interior Design and Architecture degrees are strongly encouraged, especially if paired with previous graphic design or marketing coursework.
• Completed the third year of an undergraduate program or the first year of a graduate program; must be returning to school after the internship. (This is *not• for recent graduates).
• Strong understanding of graphic design fundamentals (color theory, typography, composition, and scale).
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• UX/UI capabilities are a plus.
• Experience with CAD tools and architectural-scale design is a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
