About Morgan Stanley Firm Risk Management
At Morgan Stanley, the Firm Risk Management Division plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and stability of the firm and its clients. They identify, measure, monitor, and control various risks, including regulatory risk and the risk of financial loss.
The division’s “Risk Stripes” are dedicated departments that uphold and improve different components of the risk management framework. The Summer Analyst Program is tailored to place each individual in a specific Risk Stripe that best suits their skills and interests.
Job Description: 2025 Firm Risk Management Summer Analyst Program – Quantitative Risk (New York)
This 10-week Summer Analyst Program, starting in June, offers a comprehensive hands-on experience in Financial Services and Risk Management. You will gain:
• In-depth exposure to a specific Risk Stripe like Model Risk and Risk Analytics.
• Opportunities to work on meaningful and challenging projects that involve assessing risks and communicating findings.
• Formal and informal training including:
• Product and industry knowledge
• Soft skills and teambuilding activities
• On-the-job learning
• Weekly educational forums with Senior Management
• Mentorship from a peer buddy and a senior leader.

Key Risk Stripes:
• Model Risk Management (MRM): MRM is responsible for the firm’s model risk management framework and independently oversees model risk. They establish standards for the identification, development, validation, and use of models.
• Risk Analytics Department (RA): RA develops models to measure and manage credit, market, and operational risk. They provide quantitative analysis of the firm’s risk exposures by developing mathematical and statistical models.
Qualifications:
• Graduating between December 2025 and May 2026
• Masters Degree preferred, Bachelor’s Degree considered
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Open to all majors
• Strong interest in risk management, financial products, markets, and regulation
• Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); advanced skills a plus
• Familiarity with coding languages

• Expected base pay rates:
• Bachelor’s Degree: $37.26 hourly
• Master’s Degree: $40.86 hourly
Note: Base pay is determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
