2027 Private Equity Infrastructure & Real Assets Summer Analyst | StepStone Group

The Tone:
This is an early career Summer Analyst position within the StepStone Infrastructure and Real Assets (SIRA) team at StepStone Group, a global private markets specialist. StepStone delivers tailored investment solutions, advisory services, and impactful, data-driven insights to the world’s investors, leveraging its platform and intelligence across sectors, strategies, and geographies. This role offers a valuable opportunity for motivated undergraduates to gain deep insights into the private equity industry, particularly within infrastructure and real assets. As a Summer Analyst, you will learn about diverse sectors such as transportation, telecommunications, utilities, power, energy, logistics, renewables, social projects, sustainability, and impact investing, while being exposed to various companies, assets, and capital structures, providing a comprehensive understanding of infrastructure investments and contributing to the firm’s significant capital deployment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis and due diligence on co-investment opportunities, as well as primary and secondary transactions in private equity within the infrastructure, agriculture, and natural resources sectors.
• Modeling: Perform financial modeling and analytical tasks including creating or modifying financial models, analyzing financial statements and forecasts, preparing valuation bridges, running discounted cash flow analyses, comparing public companies, and conducting sensitivity/scenario analyses.
• Presentation: Develop and present well-constructed arguments regarding investment decisions, effectively communicating these arguments in written materials such as Microsoft Word documents and PowerPoint presentations.
• Valuation: Interpret financial analyses prepared by target fund managers, assessing investment track records and financial statements, and conducting valuation analyses on private companies or privately-owned assets using various methods, including discounted cash flow and transaction comparables.
• Research: Perform market research utilizing publicly available information and proprietary databases to identify, quantify, and analyze trends across various sectors.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Undergraduate student graduating between December 2027 and June 2028, with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Experience: Demonstrable analytical capabilities, including strong quantitative and modeling skills, along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
