The Institutional Equity Division (IED) is a key part of this, specializing in the origination, distribution and trading of equity, equity-linked and equity-derivative securities for a global client base.

About the Summer Analyst Program

The Institutional Equity Division’s Summer Analyst Program offers a 10-week experience designed to immerse participants in the world of equity and equity derivative markets. The program is divided into two tracks:

Institutional Equity: Focuses on Sales, Prime Brokerage or Sales-Trading roles within Equities.
Institutional Equity Derivatives Trading & Structuring: Focuses on more quantitative, trading, or structuring/content roles within Equities.

This particular posting is for the Institutional Equity Derivatives Trading & Structuring track.

Program Highlights

Classroom Training: The program starts with a week of intensive classroom training, introducing you to core skills and concepts in the financial industry.
Rotations: You’ll experience at least three rotations across different desks within the division, gaining exposure to a variety of roles, products, and services.
Mentorship: You’ll be paired with an experienced mentor who will provide guidance and support throughout the program.
Networking: You’ll have the opportunity to connect with other Summer Analysts, Senior Management, and professionals across different areas of Morgan Stanley.
Projects and Initiatives: You’ll work on meaningful projects and initiatives, contributing to the team and expanding your skillset.

Derivatives Trading & Structuring

This track focuses on the generation and facilitation of liquidity, as well as the creation of innovative trading solutions across a range of derivative products:

Equity Options: Both exchange-listed and over-the-counter options.
Securitized Derivatives: Derivatives based on underlying assets like mortgages or loans.
Convertible Bonds: Bonds that can be converted into equity shares.

Qualifications

Education: Pursuing an undergraduate degree with a technical focus (Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering). Graduation date should be December 2025 or Spring 2026.
GPA: Minimum 3.0 GPA
Analytical Skills: Comfortable applying statistical analysis and deriving value from data.
Problem-solving: Enjoy solving complex problems that require analytical reasoning and quantitative analysis.
Technical Proficiency: Familiar with coding languages such as Python, Q, R, SQL, or VBA.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Personal Attributes: Collaborative, quick learner, adaptable, versatile, multi-tasker, strong work ethic.

Note: While no prior finance or trading experience is required, a keen interest in finance and markets is essential.

Compensation: Expected base pay rate is $52.89 per hour at the start of the program. However, final compensation will be determined individually and may include commission earnings, incentive compensation, bonuses, and other benefits.
