This is an internship position at Sikich, located in Alexandria, VA, with a hybrid work model. What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Support: Provide assistance and support to accounting or audit project teams under supervision.
• Data Analysis: Obtain, analyze, and evaluate client data to perform tests substantiating transactions, records, and reports.
• Document Review: Review documents, transactions, records, reports, and methods for accuracy and effectiveness.
• Documentation: Prepare sufficient documentation to support work performed, including workpapers and summarized data reports.
• Reporting: Report task progress and status to senior, manager, or principal.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Junior or Senior status at the time of the internship, engaged in an accounting, cost accounting, IT, or Information Systems program at a college or university, with an interest in federal auditing and/or federal consulting.
• Experience: Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team, and interested in pursuing CPA or CISA credentials.
• Bonus: Knowledge of Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB) Statements, Government Accountability Office’s (GAO’s) Government Auditing Standards (GAS), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA)’s AU-Cs, GAO/CIGIE Financial Audit Manual (FAM), GAO Federal Information System Controls Audit Manual (FISCAM), Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Bulletin 24-02, U.S. Standard General Ledger (USSGL).
