The Internal Audit function within KeyBank serves as an independent body providing assessments of KeyBank’s processes and risks. It acts as a trusted advisor by testing the adequacy and effectiveness of KeyBank’s risk management practices, offering recommendations for improvement, and monitoring remediation efforts. This function is accountable to the KeyCorp Audit Committee, with reports provided to key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors and associated committees, executive and line of business management, and KeyBank’s regulators.
Job Description
Job Title: Summer 2026 Technology Audit Internship- Remote
Location: This is a Remote position, designated as “For Those Who Work At Home, Ohio,” indicating a virtual work environment. While the internship will primarily be performed virtually, interns located near Buffalo, NY, or Cleveland, OH, may have the option to occasionally work in an office setting.
Internship Program Overview (Key’s Enterprise Internship):
This is a 10.5-week program designed to provide interns with meaningful work that directly impacts and benefits Key’s business. The program emphasizes feedback and coaching and includes engaging events and conversations aimed at sparking interest in a full-time career with Key. Interns will be involved in line of business specific projects, have opportunities for networking with Key teammates across all organizational levels, and participate in a series of Learning Labs featuring internal and external speakers on topics such as Key’s competitive landscape, financial wellness, and professional development. Each intern will also be assigned a mentor to provide knowledge, experience, and advice.
About The Internal Audit Internship Program:
As a Technology Internal Audit Intern, you will gain hands-on experience by working on various technology audits. You will collaborate closely with seasoned professionals to develop your skills as an auditor and technology professional, receiving direct coaching and feedback. The program offers exposure to various lines of business across Key and opportunities to interact with their leaders. Interns may be placed in one or more of the following areas: Information Security, Technology Services, Applications Audit, Project Audit, or IT General Controls. Based on performance, interns may be offered a full-time position as a Rotational Analyst with Internal Audit upon graduation.
Job Responsibilities:
• Be staffed on one or two technology audits, gaining insight into all phases of an audit (planning, fieldwork, and reporting), and learning about various parts of the organization.
• Work assigned each week will be based on the current reviews in process on your assigned team, following the annual Audit Plan.
• Perform research to understand the technology risks associated with the audit.
• Typically work 8-hour days, with interns not expected to exceed 40 hours per week.
• Attend audit-specific training and enterprise-wide Learning Labs.
• Network with other Internal Audit Interns and members of Internal Audit’s Senior Leadership Team.
• The internship culminates with a Spotlight presentation to the Senior Leadership Team and Managers in Internal Audit, highlighting your internship experience.
Qualifications:
• Must have completed at least three years toward a four-year, undergraduate degree program.
• Anticipated graduation date must be in or before May 2027.
• Coursework should be in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Project Management, or other business or technology related degrees.
• Outstanding academic achievement with a minimum undergraduate 3.25 GPA.
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities from past work experience and/or extracurricular activities.
• Strong interest in technology.
• Solid analytical, problem-solving, communication (oral & written), and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Compensation and Benefits:
• The position offers an hourly rate of $23 per hour.
• Compensation also includes a $2,000 Summer Internship Sign-on Bonus.
• KeyBank’s Internship and Analyst positions are not eligible for employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B visa). This restriction includes situations where a candidate may have temporary work authorization while enrolled in school or upon graduation (e.g., CPT, OPT) but would require H-1B visa sponsorship within a few years of employment to maintain eligibility.
