Summer 2025 Technology Internship Program at Walt Disney Animation Studios
This program offers a unique opportunity for aspiring technologists to gain valuable experience working alongside industry experts. Interns will contribute to various projects integral to the creation of animated films, including:
Software Development:
• Web development: Develop and enhance web applications for the animation pipeline.
• Graphics engineering: Contribute to the development of tools and systems for animation and visual effects.
• Backend systems: Collaborate on the design and implementation of backend systems supporting the animation workflow.
Systems Engineering:
• IT and media systems: Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure, networking, and asset management systems.
• Hardware configuration: Contribute to the setup and optimization of hardware for animation production.
Technical Support:
• Desktop support: Provide technical support to artists and technologists, resolving issues and ensuring a smooth user experience.
• Troubleshooting: Collaborate with the helpdesk and systems operations teams to diagnose and solve technical problems.
User Experience Research:
• UI/UX design: Support the development of intuitive and user-friendly interfaces for animation tools and workflows.
• Workflow optimization: Contribute to the creation of visual assets and the enhancement of animation processes within proprietary software systems.
Required Qualifications & Skills
While proficiency in programming languages (Python, C++, JavaScript), operating systems (macOS, Windows, Linux), and software tools (Maya, Houdini) is desirable, the studio encourages applications from individuals with strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, and a passion for technology, animation, and storytelling.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with web frameworks (React, Vue.js), DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), database management, animation workflows, media systems, or IT asset management is a bonus.
Education Requirements
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Digital Art, Animation, or a related field.
Program Details
Location: Burbank, CA
Program Length: May/June – August/September 2025 (12 weeks)
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to the internship and returning to school after the internship.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization and provide full availability for the entire program duration.
• Must provide own housing and transportation.
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program.

Compensation
The pay rate for this Technology Internship role is $30.00-45.00 per hour, depending on the position. Benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package.
