User Growth Engineering Internship at TikTok

This internship offers students a chance to gain hands-on experience in the exciting world of User Growth engineering at TikTok. The User Growth engineering team optimizes the experience for new users from the moment they install the app, helping them find their “Aha!” moment on the platform.

The internship provides an opportunity to:

Internship Details

• Duration: 12 weeks, starting in May/June 2025.
• Start Dates: Monday, May 12, Monday, May 19, Tuesday, May 27 (Memorial Day, May 26), Monday, June 9, Monday, June 23.
• Location: TikTok offices in Los Angeles, Singapore, New York, London, Dublin, Paris, Berlin, Dubai, Jakarta, Seoul, or Tokyo.
• Application Process: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so applying early is encouraged. Successful candidates will be invited to participate in TikTok’s technical online assessment in HackerRank.

Key Responsibilities

• Build new features that touch hundreds of millions of users around the world.
• Solve unique, large-scale, highly complex technical problems.
• Participate in technical discussions related to the team’s product and engineering work.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Graduate/Master in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2025.
• Experience with Python, Java, Golang, C#, or C++.
• Experience in either mobile development or backend development.
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduating December 2025 onwards with the intent to return to a degree program after the completion of the internship.
• Passionate about TikTok, augmented reality, and creating fun, original, and creative ideas and experiences.
• Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internships, work experience, coding competitions, or publications.
• High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly rate: $45-$60 per hour (based on location).
• Full-time intern medical insurance: 100% premium coverage after 90 days from the date of hire. (Medical coverage only, no dental or vision coverage)
