About Akuna Capital:
Akuna Capital is a cutting-edge trading firm specializing in providing liquidity as an options market-maker. They are committed to providing competitive quotes for both buying and selling options. To achieve this, they design and implement their own low-latency technologies, trading strategies, and mathematical models.
Founded in Sydney, Akuna opened its first office in Chicago in 2011, a hub for the derivatives industry and options trading. Today, Akuna operates offices in Sydney, Shanghai, and London. Their focus on collaboration, cutting-edge technology, data-driven solutions, and automation drives their success.
Software Engineer Intern (C++ Team) at Akuna:
Akuna is looking for talented Software Engineer Interns to join their innovative technology team for a 10-week summer internship program. As an intern, you will:
• Work alongside trading and software teams: Collaborate to design and implement elegant solutions for complex and interesting problems.

The C++ Team:
The C++ teams focus on applications where C++ is crucial for computational heavy lifting and timing-critical, low-latency processes such as trading strategies. This language provides the flexibility and low-level control required to optimize performance on multi-core, super-scalar processors.
No prior experience in finance or trading is required. Akuna provides training and continuous education to ensure all engineers have the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed.
Qualifications:
• Pursuing a BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field.
• Experience programming in C++.
• Experience with distributed systems, networking, data structures & algorithms, and operating systems.
• Exposure to scripting, rudimentary data mining, and regression analysis (ideally in Python with Pandas and Numpy).
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the trading team, obtain requirements, find solutions, and implement them cleanly and concisely.
• Passion for innovation and building systems from the ground up.
• Adaptability to a constantly changing environment.
• Self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently.
• Strong sense of ownership.
• Must be graduating by August 2026 or prior.
• GPA of 3.5 or above.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required on the first day of employment (including F-1 students using CPT, OPT, or STEM).
