Description:
Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a talented Software Development Engineering Intern to join their team in Los Angeles, CA for the summer of 2025. As an intern, you will play a crucial role in contributing to the development of embedded real-time control system software and/or application software.
Responsibilities:
• Software Development: You will perform key software development tasks under the guidance of a team lead, including:
• Requirements analysis
• Design
• Implementation
• Unit testing
• Integration
• Documentation: Participate in creating and maintaining software development documentation.
• Reviews: Support internal and customer reviews of software development work products.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to enhancing software development processes by:
• Assessing software process metrics
• Identifying process gaps
• Proposing and evaluating process improvement options
• Reviewing and refining metric definition and collection methods
• Researching and evaluating industry tools and resources
Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Engineering (preferred), with a strong academic record.
• A background in mathematics with a CS emphasis is also considered.
• Must be returning to school after the completion of the internship.
• Exposure to embedded and real-time software concepts and a strong understanding of the C/C++ programming language is highly desirable.
Preferred Currently pursuings:
• Demonstrated teamwork experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in software development, particularly developing C/C++ code
• Familiarity with CMMI Level 3 and greater software processes
