Job Description: Software Application Engineering Intern
Mission: To contribute to Axiom Space’s mission of expanding human presence in space by developing and maintaining software solutions that support their operations.
Location: Houston, Texas (onsite)
Duration: June 2 to August 22
Responsibilities:
• Collaboration: Partner with MI&O teams and cross-functional teams to understand software requirements.
• Software Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions that interact with databases and connect to external programs through APIs.
• Database Optimization: Create and optimize database queries, ensuring efficient and reliable data retrieval and storage.
• Full Development Lifecycle: Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Quality Assurance: Implement and adhere to SDL methodologies to deliver high-quality software within established timelines.
• Support and Troubleshooting: Provide support and troubleshoot software applications, addressing bugs, issues, and enhancements as needed.
Qualifications:
• Education: Rising Junior or Senior, or Advanced Degree (MS/MA or Ph.D)
• GPA: 3.0 or higher
• Essential Functions:
• Database Proficiency: Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Programming: Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C++, or C#)
• Software Engineering Principles: Strong core development skills and understanding of software engineering principles
• Collaboration and Communication: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly.
• Problem-Solving: Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to challenges.
• Enterprise Experience: Experience delivering software in an enterprise environment.
• Agile Environment: Familiarity with Agile work methodologies (preferred)
• Microsoft Tools: Familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate (a plus)
• Additional Tools: Experience with Appian and/or Alteryx (preferred but not required)
• Requirements:
• Ability to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency.
