About the Role: Machine Learning Systems Intern

ByteDance’s AML Machine Learning Systems team is looking for talented individuals to join them for a 12-week summer internship in 2025. This team provides end-to-end machine learning experience and resources for the company. They build heterogeneous ML training and inference systems based on GPUs and AI chips, advancing the state-of-the-art of ML systems technology to accelerate models like stable diffusion and LLMs.

Responsibilities:

• Research and develop key components of machine learning systems, including distributed frameworks, cluster scheduling, and storage systems.
• Optimize the implementation and deploy these components in production systems.

Currently pursuings:

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Familiar with machine learning algorithms and platforms.
• Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during summer 2025.
• Published papers at top conferences (preferred).
• Familiar with Go and Python development in Linux environments.
• Familiar with at least one deep learning framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, MXNet, or other).
• Ability to work independently and complete projects from beginning to end in a timely manner.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to clearly communicate technical concepts with other team members.
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Currently pursuings:

• Graduating December 2025 onwards with the intent to return to the degree program after the completion of the internship.
