Job Description:
This is a 12-week summer internship (May/June 2025) within TikTok USDS’s Security and Privacy team. The internship aims to provide students with hands-on experience in cybersecurity. The program includes social events and development workshops. Interns will apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios, building a foundation for professional growth. The internship is a hybrid model, requiring 3 days a week in the office (or as directed by the manager/department).
Specific responsibilities may include (depending on the team):
• Developing security analysis tooling and automations.
• Conducting vulnerability assessments.
• Researching and emulating threat actors.
• Performing adversary simulations/penetration testing.
• Migrating security log sources to Splunk/SOAR.
• Building automations/tooling.
The Security and Privacy team’s mission is to ensure TikTok is the most trusted social and entertainment platform by protecting the business, people, and users; building public trust; and complying with government requirements. The internship is open to students pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in relevant fields (Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems). The internship requires a commitment to 12 weeks during Summer 2025. A basic understanding of cybersecurity risks, principles, and concepts, as well as knowledge of a coding language (Python, C++, Go, Rust, or similar) are required. Preferred qualifications include graduating in December 2025 or later and a willingness to return to studies after the internship. The position is open to General Hire candidates, meaning applications will be considered for various openings within the Cyber Defense Engineering department based on interview performance. The role is subject to strict national security-related screening.
