Summer Internship Program
Balfour Beatty Construction is seeking motivated college students for their Summer 2025 Internship program in Dallas, TX. Interns will gain valuable experience working on various projects, learning about the construction industry, and contributing to a successful team.
Essential Functions:
• Learn about project budget management, including controlling expenditures, coordinating owner and subcontractor billings, identifying work not covered by subcontractors, and ensuring successful office support related to overall cost and schedule.
• Gain knowledge of Safety and Quality Control programs, including coordinating actions to address problems.
• Learn about company procedures, correspondence processes, and handling with the Office Manager, following the Operations Manual.
• Develop skills in reviewing and processing submittal data and shop drawings.
• Understand how to coordinate submittals, deliveries, etc. that affect the project schedule with the Superintendent.
• Monitor and review weekly and monthly status reports, weekly subcontractor meeting minutes, change orders, etc. to understand the process.
• Learn about change documents and change proposal requests for price review.
• Attend meetings with Project Engineer, architect, and owner representatives to understand information required by the owner, necessary progress reports and summaries, and how action plans from owner/architect meetings address all outstanding project issues.
• Understand how changes, clarifications, directives, RFIs, etc. are updated on “as-built” plans and coordinated with company supervision and subcontractors/suppliers.
• Learn how to maintain RFI logs and change request logs.
Minimum Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in a Construction Management program.
Preferred Requirements:
• Prior commercial construction internships or work experience (helpful, but not required).
• Ability to develop new skills and knowledge quickly.
• Willingness to participate in training, seminars, task team meetings, etc.
• Demonstrated expanding knowledge of construction details about miscellaneous metals, casework, doors, specialties, radiation protection, etc.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
• Excellent self-organizational and management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
