About the Company:
The International Institute of New England (IINE) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving refugees, asylees, and immigrants in Boston, MA, Lowell, MA, and Manchester, NH. IINE offers internships to students, graduate students, and recent graduates interested in supporting these populations. Internships are unpaid and generally align with the US semester system, including an educational component for contextualization and reflection.
Job Description: Summer 2025 Information Technology Intern
This is a hybrid internship requiring some in-person work at the Boston, MA office. The IT Intern will work closely with the Director of IT to standardize and enhance technological support for IINE’s Operations team. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a non-profit setting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Data Management and Quality Assurance: Provide data entry and quality assurance support for SharePoint, Asana, and Salesforce, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
• Documentation and Training: Collaborate with the Director of IT to create and update user guides for IT processes. Lead training sessions for team members on various software and computer systems (Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS).
• Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to staff and interns, troubleshooting workstation issues and other technology problems.
• Hardware Management: Assist with laptop deployments and customizations for staff. Support on-site equipment, including projectors, meeting OWLs, Apple TVs, and other equipment used for hybrid and online meetings.
• System Improvement: Research and recommend solutions to streamline the organization’s technological systems. Maintain detailed records of technical support provided and solutions implemented.
• Operational Involvement: Participate in Operations-related meetings to gain broader understanding of non-profit operations and contribute IT perspectives.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated interest in international, refugee, asylee, and/or immigrant issues.
• Strong computer skills are essential.
• Strong knowledge of software, including Asana, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other Microsoft Suite programs.
• Familiarity with databases, particularly in non-profit contexts (preferred).
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing schedules.
• Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivation and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Learning Objectives:
• Gain practical experience in maintaining and improving technological systems in a non-profit environment.
• Support the implementation and streamlining of new non-profit software.
• Learn data clean-up procedures and quality assurance protocols specific to non-profit technologies.
• Develop skills in creating and updating user guides.
• Enhance research skills to recommend new technologies.
