Summer 2025 Field Services Internship

This internship offers students real-world experience in the Locomotive Maintenance Field Services business. Interns will work with Wabtec’s Technical and Materials Advisors and customers’ mechanical employees at a locomotive service facility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Technical Advisors (TAs) with coordinating and providing instruction on locomotive maintenance/modifications.
• Develop and maintain customer relationships to identify repair opportunities.
• Work as part of a cross-functional team focused on customer success.
• Complete Wabtec Level 1 Locomotive Online Training courses.
• Complete Level 1 TA On-the-Job Training (OJT) tasks.
• Learn to navigate Wabtec eServices, catalogs, schematics, and other resources.
• Gain understanding of emission standards and emission-critical components.
• Complete various short-term projects assigned by the Shop Manager.

Requirements:

• Must be a full-time student (preferably rising Juniors and rising Seniors) enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
• Strong initiative and the ability to work independently and in teams.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Strong desire to learn and develop in diesel/automotive technology, engineering, logistics, manufacturing, or related areas.
• Ability to communicate technical aptitude, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work for a minimum of 10 weeks (maximum of 12).
• Willingness to take roles at one of our many Wabtec locations.
• The ability to maintain reliable and predictable attendance throughout the internship
• Willingness and ability to work various shifts in a shop environment
• A high level of dependability, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goal

Desired:

• Maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale after completing a full year of college.

Physical Demands:

• Standing for long periods.
• Walking throughout the day.
• Walking up and down stairs.
• Climbing on/off locomotives.
• Wearing required personal protective gear (hardhat, steel-toe boots, earplugs, eye protection).
• Speaking and hearing.
• Typing and operating a computer.
• Willingness and ability to work various shifts in a shop environment

Compensation:

• The salary range for this role is $18.00 – $27.00/hr and is determined by major and year of study.
