Position Summary & Responsibilities:
As a vital member of our patient care team, you will actively contribute to the well-being of our patients under the direct supervision and guidance of an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Mentor. This role is meticulously designed to foster professional growth, enhance clinical skills, and promote the development of critical thinking necessary for a successful nursing career. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing and assisting with direct patient care activities, ensuring comfort, safety, and adherence to established care protocols, always under the close direction of an assigned RN Mentor.
- Actively collaborating with other departments and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive, holistic, and coordinated patient care delivery.
- Beginning to cultivate proactive thinking processes when approaching and implementing the patient’s plan of care, demonstrating an early understanding of anticipation and assessment.
- Learning to appropriately delegate patient care activities to ancillary staff, gaining foundational exposure to leadership and effective resource management within a structured environment.
- Actively seeking and accepting mentoring from experienced nursing staff, embracing continuous learning, feedback, and professional development opportunities to refine clinical skills and professional judgment.
- Engaging in a supportive learning environment designed to facilitate the transition from theoretical knowledge to practical application, enhancing clinical judgment, communication, and patient advocacy skills.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in and have successfully completed the Junior or Senior semester of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program. This ensures a foundational knowledge base and readiness for advanced clinical exposure.
- Must possess a current and valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Health Care Provider card, demonstrating essential life-saving skills.
Licensure & Certification:
- Must hold a current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider card or an AHA BLS Instructor Provider card, confirming proficiency in critical emergency care.
