Job Description: Student Intern (Medical Management)
This part-time internship role, located in Los Angeles, CA, is designed to provide a student with hands-on experience in medical management operations. The intern will function as a regular staff member, contributing to projects and administrative tasks within the Talent Strategy & HR Technology department. The salary range for this position is $45,760.00 (Min.) – $45,760.00 (Mid.) – $52,024.00 (Max.).
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with specialized project and administrative tasks related to medical management.
• Compile, consolidate, and prepare reports and presentations based on findings.
• Conduct research and gather data for reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with staff and varying levels of management.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
• Utilize knowledge acquired in the academic setting to contribute to company objectives.
• Complete project timelines and ensure management approval.
• Submit work assignments punctually and provide progress reports.
Specific Spring Internship Role: Operations Support Intern
The Operations Support Intern will contribute to operational efficiency through discharge management tracking and case updates. This internship provides hands-on experience in capturing and analyzing metrics, streamlining workflow processes, and preparing for the rollout of the new QNXT system. Duties will assist and provide information with regards to a time study project that will contribute to tracking of metrics for the PRQ and AT teams.
Internship Responsibilities:
• Discharge Management: Review daily reports to identify discharged members, update system profiles (Progress Review Tab and Details Tab), and enter discharge template notes.
• Records Request Management: Analyze daily reports to identify cases due within the next three days, fax records requests for cases lacking updated clinical information, and document requests in the system.
• Process Improvement Collaboration: Participate in discussions with supervisors to refine and improve task workflows and conduct time studies on assigned tasks to optimize productivity processes and assist in gathering data to prepare for QNXT system implementation.
• Discharge Planning Project: Participate in discussions with supervisors to refine and improve task workflows and create a document with information regarding all interdisciplinary teams and their functions (TCS, CM, ECM), providing forms, contact information for each department, and a list of facilities and specialty care provided per facility in one central location.
Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a degree in Healthcare Administration, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with an eye for detail.
• Proficiency in Excel and other productivity tools.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
