Job Description – Student Intern, Corporate Environmental Services:

Tucson Electric Power is seeking a Student Intern for its Corporate Environmental Services Department. This position is designed to supplement permanent staff and provide college students with work experience in environmental-related business functions. The selected intern will primarily support sustainability and environmental policy initiatives, as well as regulatory compliance in various environmental program areas.

Position-Related Responsibilities:
The successful candidate’s main role will be to support the Corporate Environmental Services staff in managing the employee Green Team. This involves a key role in promoting internal sustainability engagement and initiatives, including:
• Managing schedules.
• Developing content.
• Implementing team-driven projects.
• Facilitating quarterly meetings and “lunch & learn” presentations.

Additional duties may include supporting broader sustainability and environmental policy initiatives, and regulatory compliance within environmental program areas. Specific tasks may include:
• Assisting the program manager with Company sustainability reporting efforts, which involves identifying material environmental metrics, collecting and preparing data, validating data, and consolidating it.
• Researching and reporting on industry initiatives related to sustainability.
• Monitoring, reviewing, and tracking proposed local, state, and federal environmental legislative and agency actions.
• Assisting the program manager with conducting environmental policy technical analysis, including data collection, evaluation, and reporting.
• Supporting regulatory compliance programs through research, reporting, and preparation of forms and plans as required by various regulations.
• Performing other assignments as requested.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Must be pursuing a degree in Environmental Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, with a graduation date of May 2027 or later.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week during regular business hours, and up to 40 hours a week during the summer and school breaks.
• Must possess a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to protect highly sensitive and confidential information.
• Must be able to meet regular deadlines.
• Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.

Requirements for the Student Intern Program:
• Work hours and assignments will be scheduled to prioritize the student’s academic responsibilities.
• Student Interns must maintain full-time student status, good academic standing, and the GPA required for graduation by their college or university.
• Failure to meet these academic requirements will result in ineligibility for the program.
• Student Interns are employed on a temporary basis and are generally not eligible for some company benefits, including holiday pay.
