UNPAID STUDENT INTERNSHIP with various departments (Intern Pool) | County of Riverside

The Tone:
This is an unpaid student internship with the County of Riverside, located in Riverside, CA. This role is important for providing current undergraduate or graduate students, or recent graduates, with supervised work experience and in-service training in a specific professional vocation. Interns assist professional employees, contributing to the daily operations and special projects that support the County’s mission.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Assist: Aid and participate in the day-to-day assigned work of professional employees within the assigned department.
• Research: Support and engage in special research initiatives, studies, surveys, and investigations as directed.
• Analyze: Help with the compilation, tabulation, and analysis of information and data for various projects.
• Prepare: Assist in the development of briefs, reports, evaluations, specifications, and plans.
• Collaborate: Attend divisional and departmental staff meetings and prepare reports summarizing observations, suggestions, and comments.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current enrollment in, or recent graduation (within one year) from, a Bachelor’s or Master’s program at an accredited college or university in a program relevant to the specific internship; some positions may require graduate school enrollment. A minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 is required.
• Experience: No prior professional experience is required; the internship is designed to provide supervised work experience in a specific professional vocation through participation in assigned duties.
• Skills: Ability to follow direction and supervision, learn rapidly from on-the-job training, think logically, write clearly and concisely, compile data, perform arithmetical computations, analyze statistical data, prepare reports, and maintain cooperative relations with co-workers and the public.
• Knowledge: Understanding of the goals and functions of the specific profession to which assigned, along with the ability to use computer hardware and software as needed.
