Job Description:
Lensa is advertising this Student Intern position on behalf of Allana Buick & Bers (ABB) in Austin, TX. As a Student Intern with ABB, you will play a vital role in supporting engineers and project managers in various investigations of building failures and remedial design tasks. You will handle smaller portions of larger projects, collaborate with senior staff, and contribute to tasks such as:
• Studying existing conditions of buildings.
• Identifying failures of building components and systems.
• Researching and proposing remedial design solutions.
• Preparing design documents, including drawings and specifications.
• Managing the bidding process.
• Preparing and administering contract documents.
• Inspecting the construction of remedies.
• Researching code requirements and manufacturer recommendations.
Desired Skills and Experience:
• Pursuing a Master of Science (Bachelor’s degree candidates will be considered) in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architectural engineering, or related disciplines; an emphasis in structural engineering is preferred.
• Knowledge of roofing, waterproofing, or other building envelope systems is desirable.
• Ability to interpret technical instructions.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint), MS Project, and other Windows applications.
