Job Description
The NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking a Student Intern for an exciting opportunity.
This internship is a 10 to 12-week, full-time work experience designed to provide students with a practical opportunity to apply their developing knowledge and skills in areas such as health services administration/management, research, or policy. Interns will gain a deeper understanding of the pressures influencing decision-making within today’s healthcare environment and will be able to identify additional skills necessary for a successful career in healthcare administration.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assist with providing constructive feedback and developing training tools, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure cash optimization and accounts receivable reduction activities are functioning to their fullest capability.
• Report any discrepancies or inconsistencies in data and/or reports to management in a timely manner.
• Adhere strictly to compliance and departmental policies and procedures, including 100% compliance with HIPAA requirements.
• Work independently, take initiative, and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
• Work collaboratively with various departments within NYULMC and its contracted payers.
• Evaluate and escalate inaccuracies related to eligibility, authorization, billing, and claims processing to implement upstream solutions.
• Maintain data integrity when manipulating data files for analysis, ensuring data does not become corrupted through conscientious use of tools and a system of checks and balances.
• Execute data mining and in-depth accounts receivable analysis.
• Collect and analyze data to identify areas for operational improvement throughout the revenue cycle.
Minimum Qualifications:
• The student intern must be a full-time student, or, if working during the summer months (Mid-May through Mid-September), must be planning to return to full-time student status in the fall.
• Qualified candidates must possess the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

The salary range for this role is $16.50 – $20.00 Hourly. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs, and this range does not include potential bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
