Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Student Intern.

The internship offers a full-time work experience lasting 10 to 12 weeks. It is designed to provide students with a practical opportunity to apply their developing knowledge and skills, particularly in areas such as health services administration/management, research, or policy. Through this experience, students will gain a deeper understanding of the pressures influencing decision-making in today’s healthcare environment. The program also helps interns identify additional skills necessary to prepare them for a rewarding career in health care administration.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Provide constructive feedback and assist in the development of training tools, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure that cash optimization and accounts receivable reduction activities are operating at full capacity.
Report any discrepancies or inconsistencies in data and/or reports to management in a timely manner.
• Adhere strictly to compliance and departmental policies and procedures, including 100% compliance with HIPAA requirements.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently, take initiative, and think critically.
Collaborate effectively with various departments within NYULMC and its contracted payers.
Evaluate and escalate inaccuracies related to eligibility, authorization, billing, and claims processing to facilitate the implementation of upstream solutions.
Maintain data integrity when manipulating data files for analysis, ensuring data does not become corrupted through careful tool use and a system of checks and balances.
Execute data mining and perform in-depth accounts receivable analysis.
Collect and analyze data to identify areas for operational improvement throughout the revenue cycle.

Minimum Qualifications:

• The student intern must be a full-time student. If working during the summer months (Mid-May through Mid-September), the student must be planning to return to full-time status in the fall.
• Qualified candidates must possess the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

The salary range for this role is $16.50 – $20.00 Hourly. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs. This listed range does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
