Job Description, Detailed
This is for a Student Intern position within the NFTA’s strategic communications team, assisting with various projects to support the organization’s public relations strategy.
Work Objective & Responsibilities:
The intern will be involved in:
• Planning and executing special events, promotions, and community outreach initiatives.
• Creating communication plans, media plans, and press releases.
• Conducting market research.
• Performing other content development and communications projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Education: Actively pursuing a degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
• Skills: Requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of MS Office is required. Familiarity with photo revision software is helpful.
• Physical Requirements: The internship may require some set-up/lifting or off-site work.
Logistics & Compensation:
• Term: Summer of 2025.
• Duration: Runs from the middle of May through the middle of August.
• Compensation: Academic credit hours. This is not a paid position in terms of salary.
• Hours: The chosen candidate(s) must be available to work in-office 16-24 hours per week on workdays (specific days/times TBD).
• Required Availability for Application: When applying, candidates must include their work availability Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.; some weekend days may also be required.
• Office Location: NFTA Headquarters, Metropolitan Transportation Center, 181 Ellicott Street, Buffalo.
