Job Description:

Stantec’s San Francisco office is seeking an enthusiastic student to join their Buildings team in California as a full-time, paid intern (hourly, not eligible for holiday or vacation pay). The team specializes in building science, working on new construction to design durable and sustainable building envelopes and investigating/repairing failures in existing buildings. Your Key Responsibilities:

Project Document Reviews: Review drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals under the supervision of senior staff.
Site Visits and Reporting: Assist with site visits and write site visit reports.
Building Envelope Investigations: Support team members with building envelope failure investigations and condition assessments.
Field Testing: Assist with field testing to confirm enclosure performance (water/air leakage, whole building air leakage, and infrared).
Mock-up Reviews: Assist with the review and reporting on project mock-ups.
Project Meetings: Attend project meetings (design and construction) and document project discussions.
Project Management Support: Assist in project management and coordination.
Marketing Materials: Assist with marketing materials
Technical Writing: Perform technical report writing.
Design Support: Provide design support for contract documents using AutoCAD.
Continuing Education: Participate in internal continuing education programs.
Combination of Office & Field Work

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

• General knowledge of building science fundamentals (air, thermal, moisture, and vapor control layers).
• Organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks on multiple projects.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong technical writing skills would be an asset
• Professional attitude and commitment to succeed.
• Persistence and good work ethic.
• Experience on construction sites is a plus.
• Knowledge of construction materials, drawings, and specifications is a plus.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD would be an asset.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean DMV record.

Education and Experience:

• Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• Previous Buildings Science CO-OP/Internship is a plus.
