Job Description

Volunteer Coaching Internship: Strength & Conditioning / Basketball Performance

This is an exciting opportunity for aspiring professionals in sports performance to gain invaluable hands-on experience. This position is for volunteer coaches, and no compensation will be provided.

Role Description

As a Volunteer Coach Intern, you will be integral to the athletic development program, focusing on performance training and basketball skills. Your duties will include:

  • Assisting with Performance Training Sessions: You will support the delivery of structured performance training, helping athletes improve their physical capabilities.
  • Assisting with On-Court Basketball Sessions: Participate and assist in practical basketball sessions, contributing to skill development and tactical understanding.
  • Pre and Post Stretching: Facilitate and supervise proper stretching protocols for athletes, crucial for injury prevention and recovery.
  • Participate in the Internship Education Program: Engage actively in a structured educational curriculum, including two dedicated education sessions per week designed to deepen your knowledge in sports science and coaching.
  • Creating a Sports Portfolio: You will develop a professional portfolio showcasing your learning, experiences, and contributions during the internship.
  • Assisting with Performance Testing and Evaluation: Support the collection and analysis of athlete data to assess performance levels, track progress, and inform training adjustments.

Qualifications

We are seeking motivated individuals with a foundational understanding of sports coaching and a strong commitment to a career in strength and conditioning:

  • Experience in Sports Coaching: Demonstrated experience in coaching athletes, including the design and implementation of training programs and guiding performance improvement.
  • Proficiency in Effective Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for clear interaction with athletes, coaching staff, and other team members.
  • Strong Desire to Pursue a Career in Strength and Conditioning: A genuine passion and clear ambition to develop a professional career in strength and conditioning are paramount for this role.
