What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruction: Provide personalized 1-on-1 online instruction to individual students.
• Engagement: Accept on-demand tutoring requests whenever you are available.
• Explanations: Skillfully break down complex statistical derivations, posterior distribution calculations, and ANOVA decompositions.
• Guidance: Guide students through designing experiments, performing multivariate analysis, constructing confidence regions, and implementing statistical models in software.
• Adaptation: Adapt instruction using statistical computing in R or Python, research paper examples, and proof-based exercises to support masters and doctoral students.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduate-level proficiency in statistics, encompassing deep knowledge of mathematical statistics, maximum likelihood estimation, sufficient statistics, hypothesis testing theory, Bayesian inference, regression analysis, multivariate methods, experimental design, and nonparametric statistics. Capable of explaining asymptotic theory, the Neyman-Pearson lemma, generalized linear models, and preparing students for research methodology and doctoral-level statistical analysis.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to teach conceptual understanding and problem-solving, including guiding students through complex derivations and practical application of statistical models. Familiarity with graduate statistics curricula and common challenges students face, such as understanding measure-theoretic probability foundations and interpreting complex model outputs.
• Skills: Advanced subject mastery in graduate-level statistics; effective conceptual teaching and problem-solving abilities; adaptive instruction tailored to individual learning styles and needs; strong communication skills and an engaging teaching style.
