Staff Auditor Intern | Clackamas County

The Tone:
This is a three-month part-time internship at Clackamas County. Clackamas County provides public services to its community through various departments, including the Office of County Internal Audit. This role is vital for supporting audit engagements that promote accountability and continuous improvement within county operations. The intern will contribute to public service by fostering curiosity and advocating for ongoing enhancements.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate on audit engagements: Primarily work alongside the senior internal auditor on various audit projects.
• Assist with audit procedures: Support the execution of tasks within ongoing internal audit engagements.
• Apply theoretical knowledge: Translate academic understanding into practical application within an audit setting.
• Acquire hands-on expertise: Engage directly with real-world scenarios and processes within the audit office.
• Contribute to public accountability: Participate in activities that uphold the Office of County Internal Audit’s mission to serve the public.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Enrollment in a post-secondary accredited educational institution leading to a college degree or equivalent program/certification, maintaining good standing and remaining enrolled (with acceptable summer/one-term breaks) throughout the internship.
• Experience: Using Microsoft Word and Excel; using video-conferencing software such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
• Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Bonus: Progress or completed coursework in auditing, accounting, or data analytics; experience preparing reports or presentations, including academic projects.
