Staff Accountant, Sales & Marketing | A+E Global Media

The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid role at A+E Global Media, located in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, or Stamford, CT. A+E Global Media oversees back-office functions that drive the bottom line, including forecasting, building, and managing budgets, as well as collecting and analyzing data. This role is crucial for maintaining smooth financial operations by meticulously handling day-to-day accounting and month-end close activities for Sales & Marketing expenses.

• Mission: To ensure accurate and timely accounting for Sales & Marketing expenses through meticulous journal entry preparation, accrual tracking, and reconciliation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accrual Management: Collect and review monthly accrual submissions from Sales & Marketing budget managers.
• Journal Entry Processing: Prepare and process approximately 40–60 journal entries each month, including accruals, reclasses, and other close adjustments.
• Documentation Review: Validate account coding and review supporting documentation for financial transactions.
• Reconciliation Support: Assist with recurring entries, reclasses, Concur reporting support, and account reconciliations.
• Reporting Assistance: Support the preparation of monthly operating expense and G&A schedules for senior review.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: 1–3 years of accounting experience, with preferred experience in SAP, Concur, or similar accounting systems.
• Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency, excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Bonus: Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT or Shortcut AI.
