Leslie’s is the largest direct-to-consumer brand in the U.S. pool and spa care industry, serving residential and professional consumers through over 900 retail locations, service, digital platforms, and manufacturing divisions. This role ensures the accuracy of inventory, cost of sales, and gross margin accounts across the company’s extensive operations. The Staff Accountant’s work is critical for maintaining financial integrity, supporting operational efficiency, and driving the company’s continued growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Journal Entries: Prepare detailed journal entries and account reconciliations for inventory, sales, and cost of goods sold, ensuring proper documentation and internal control evidence.
• Month-End Close: Execute assigned responsibilities during month-end and period-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Inventory Reporting: Develop schedules, reports, and analyses to support inventory valuation and meet financial reporting requirements.
• Variance Analysis: Conduct detailed account variance analyses to identify trends, explain fluctuations, and maintain financial accuracy.
• Issue Resolution: Research and resolve inventory-related accounting issues such as shrink, margin variances, and transactional discrepancies.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a focus on core accounting principles and practices.
• Experience: 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting, a public company, or a related environment, including experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Skills: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls, intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Bonus: Experience with inventory accounting and reporting in a retail environment, supply chain accounting knowledge, or experience with JDA, Workday Adaptive Planning, and FloQast.
