This Staff Accountant I role is crucial for precisely managing various accounting and compliance aspects, including financial account analysis, month-end close processes, and financial analysis, while partnering with operations to ensure financial accuracy and operational success.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Business Licensing: Obtain, renew, and update all state, county, and city business licenses, ensuring current copies are properly displayed at sites if required by law.
• Tax Compliance & Filings: Renew all state annual reports, file all required paperwork for new states MasterCorp is entering, file all personal property schedules, and request payment for all real estate and personal property taxes.
• Sales & Use Tax Management: Process sales and use tax monthly, reconcile balances for all sales/use tax accounts, file sales tax returns (monthly, quarterly, and annual), and determine/obtain new sales/use tax numbers when required for new sites.
• Month-End Close & Fixed Assets: Close books monthly, update the fixed asset system, enter all new fixed assets, reconcile the fixed asset system with accounting software, depreciate fixed assets, and integrate depreciation expense.
• Financial Reconciliation & Tracking: Reconcile and maintain vehicle sales for accounting, and track, update, and maintain the expense report system.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. This is an entry-level position.
• Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in an accounting role is preferred, though recent graduates with strong accounting-related skills will be considered.
• Skills: Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail; ability to organize and prioritize work, perform multiple tasks, and meet deadlines; strong Microsoft Office experience, specifically Microsoft Excel.
