• Mission: This person maintains accurate accounting records, journals, and registers to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information, supporting effective accounting operations and financial reporting.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite; function-specific accounting and business software applications.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Compile Reports: Compile and analyze quarterly and annual statutory financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable requirements.
• Prepare Entries: Prepare month-end journal entries supported by comprehensive documentation, detailed worksheets, and account reconciliations for various accounting activities.
• Analyze Variances: Conduct thorough variance analysis to identify trends, provide meaningful insights, and support opportunities for both process and financial optimization.
• Lead Projects: Lead and actively contribute to special projects aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness, strengthening internal processes, and supporting the achievement of strategic business objectives.
• Develop Professionally: Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously enhance knowledge, stay current with industry standards and best practices, and support ongoing professional growth within the accounting field.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline, demonstrating a strong understanding of insurance company operations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience: One or more years of accounting experience, playing an integral role in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, with the ability to apply basic mathematical concepts in daily accounting activities.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and evaluate information to develop effective solutions. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, coupled with a strong commitment to accuracy, precision, and attention to detail in all deliverables. Proficient verbal and written communication skills to convey financial and business information clearly, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
• Bonus: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure or actively pursuing CPA certification.
