Staff Accountant | Triton International
The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Purchase, NY, with on-site work required Monday through Thursday. Triton International is the world’s largest lessor of intermodal containers, providing efficiency and certainty in global commerce through its extensive network and equipment inventory. As a Staff Accountant, you will be an integral part of the accounting department, directly supporting various teams. This role contributes to meaningful projects that support global supply chains and is crucial for ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining strong internal controls.

• Mission: Support various accounting groups with assignments including monthly close, financial reporting, SOX support, reconciliations, analyses, and ad-hoc projects.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Word; PowerPoint desirable
What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and update departmental reports, compiling ad-hoc financial analyses required for monthly P&L, cash flow meetings, and both internal and external reporting needs.
• Account Reconciliation: Perform timely monthly reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts, ensuring all supporting documentation complies with internal SOX controls and is organized for management review.
• Journal Entry Management: Conduct analysis and data gathering to record monthly recurring journal entries efficiently, verifying that all supporting details adhere to internal SOX control requirements.
• Audit Readiness & Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive departmental files and archives, ensuring all accounting activity is well-documented, supported, current, and readily available for internal and external audit reviews.
• Process Improvement & Collaboration: Actively learn and assess current accounting processes, participating in discussions and proposing suggestions for improvements where appropriate to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the team.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience: 1-2 years of accounting experience.
• Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency, good oral and written communication skills, strong analytical abilities with attention to detail, and strict adherence to deadlines.
• Bonus: Public/Big 4 accounting experience is preferred. Must be able to work on-site four days per week in Purchase, NY, and be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
