The Tone:
This is an early-career Staff Accountant role for an organization in the Madison area, offering a hybrid work environment. Our client is seeking a professional with a strong accounting foundation who is eager to take ownership of their responsibilities. This position provides an excellent opportunity to build general ledger experience and grow within an accounting team, playing a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting financial operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reporting: Prepare and post journal entries to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Reconciliations: Perform general ledger account reconciliations, researching and resolving any discrepancies.
• Record Keeping: Support day-to-day accounting activities and ensure the maintenance of accurate financial records.
• Close Process: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, preparing supporting schedules and documentation.
• Analysis: Analyze account activity to investigate variances or unusual transactions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; Entry-Level career professional.
• Experience: 0–3 years of accounting experience with a foundational understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative team environment.
• Bonus: Previous accounting internship or other relevant professional business experience strongly preferred, along with a desire to learn and take on increasing responsibility.
