Staff Accountant | Raleigh Oaks Behavioral Health

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Raleigh Oaks Behavioral Health, located in Garner, North Carolina, with a consistent Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm schedule. Raleigh Oaks Behavioral Health is dedicated to providing essential behavioral health services to individuals and families in the community. This Staff Accountant position is pivotal for the coordination and robust support of all accounting processes, directly impacting the financial health of the facility. The role ensures the integrity and accuracy of facility financial statements, upholds appropriate control procedures, and provides critical analysis of balance sheet accounts and bank statements. The contributions of this position are essential for accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency within the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage: Take charge of key accounting functions including the meticulous maintenance of the general ledger, managing accounts payable, and overseeing project accounting, ensuring all operations are accurate and timely.
• Support: Provide comprehensive assistance with the monthly closing of financial records, posting of month-end information, and the preparation of facility budgets, month and year-end reporting, and various statistical and financial reports.
• Prepare: Consolidate and prepare internal and external financial statements by diligently gathering and analyzing detailed information from the general ledger system and various departments. This includes maintaining and balancing the automated consolidation system by inputting data and verifying its integrity.
• Analyze: Systematically examine and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess their accuracy, completeness, and conformance to established reporting and procedural standards. This also involves reconciling financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
• Maintain: Prepare general ledger entries, maintain meticulous records and files, reconcile accounts, and accurately prepare payments by accruing expenses, assigning account numbers, and requesting disbursements. Additionally, you will maintain all third-party contracts crucial to the facility’s operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is a strict requirement for this position.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of general accounting experience in any field is required. Candidates must possess practical experience with current accounting software, specifically in Accounts Payable and Payroll functions.
• Skills: Strong understanding and practical knowledge of accrual-based accounting principles and comprehensive month-end closing procedures are essential. Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial statements and reconciling accounts is also a core requirement.
• Bonus: While not required, two years of accounting experience specifically within a healthcare setting is strongly preferred and will be considered a significant advantage.
