Staff Accountant | Accountants One
The Tone:
This is an in-office Staff Accountant role, located in Canton, GA. Accountants One has been engaged by a well-established and growing organization in the landscaping/hardscaping industry, seeking to expand their accounting team. This position is crucial for supporting the daily accounting operations of the organization, maintaining accurate financial records, and processing essential transactions directly under the Controller. The Staff Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the timely and accurate recording of accounts payable, payroll, cash receipts, and general ledger activity while utilizing specific accounting software.

• Mission: Support the daily accounting operations by maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, and assisting with financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial activity.
• Tech Stack: Sage Intacct, Aspire, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office applications.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Payable & Payroll Management: Process all accounts payable invoices through accurate and timely data entry, including meticulous handling of credit card transactions, and enter payroll information into the accounting system while providing assistance with payroll-related reconciliations.
• General Ledger & Reconciliations: Prepare and post various journal entries to the general ledger, perform comprehensive credit card and general ledger account reconciliations, and diligently maintain the accuracy of financial records and all supporting documentation.
• Financial Reporting & Closing Support: Assist directly with month-end and year-end closing activities, which includes preparing monthly statements for clients with outstanding Accounts Receivable, and compile financial reports and schedules as requested by management.
• Compliance & Audit Readiness: Ensure strict compliance with company policies, established accounting standards, and internal controls. Additionally, support both internal and external audits by efficiently providing all requested documentation and assisting with account analysis to resolve discrepancies.
• Process Enhancement & Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal departments to resolve any accounting-related issues that arise. You will also have the opportunity to recommend process improvements to enhance overall efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function, alongside performing other assigned accounting and administrative duties.
The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. This role is ideal for an early career professional seeking to develop their skills in core accounting operations within a supportive team environment.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience with Accounts Payable and Payroll Processing is essential for this position.
• Skills: Strong data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, excellent organizational and time management abilities, strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities, and effective written and verbal communication skills. The ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively is also key.
• Bonus: Prior experience utilizing Sage Intacct and/or Aspire accounting software is strongly preferred for this role.
