Staff Accountant | Rapid Response Monitoring

The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-office role at Rapid Response Monitoring, located in Syracuse, NY. Rapid Response Monitoring is a national leader in monitoring alarms and security systems, dedicated to protecting life and property for communities across the country. As an integral part of the accounting team, the Staff Accountant plays a critical role in coordinating financial tasks and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of all accounting operations. The successful candidate will contribute to a clear understanding of the company’s financial health and support its mission.

• Team: Reports to the Controller within the accounting team
• Mission: Coordinate financial tasks and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of accounting operations.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Power BI

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconciliation: Perform analysis and reconciliation for general ledger accounts, including activity on the balance sheet.
• Reporting: Prepare financial information and reports for monthly internal financial reporting packages.
• Analysis: Analyze Profit and Loss statements by comparing them to past trends and expected results.
• Project Costing: Prepare job cost analysis for both completed projects and work in process.
• Process Improvement: Assist in the creation, maintenance, and updating of processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required, with knowledge of generally accepted accounting and auditing practices and principles.
• Experience: Zero (0) to five (5) years of accounting experience is required.
• Skills: Outstanding organization and planning abilities, excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and ability to clear drug screen and background check to meet industry and security licensing requirements.
• Bonus: One (1) to three (3) years of accounting experience is preferred, along with strong organizational and analytic abilities, a proficient understanding of laws, codes, and regulations, and experience utilizing Power BI for financial and accounting analysis.
