Staff Accountant | Melaleuca: The Wellness Company

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Melaleuca, located in Idaho Falls, ID. This Staff Accountant role is pivotal in supporting Melaleuca’s continued growth by assisting the General Accounting Manager in providing complete, accurate, and timely financial information across all key business areas.

• Team: General Accounting Team, reporting to the General Accounting Manager
• Mission: Ensures complete and accurate financial information for the company, covering inventory, capital, cash, income, expenses, and product costs.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Prepares financial statements for various entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Analyze: Reviews and analyzes departmental financial data to prepare appropriate journal entries.
• Evaluate: Performs monthly expense account variance analysis to identify and explain discrepancies.
• Reconcile: Prepares journal entries, reconciles general ledger account balances for income statements and balance sheets, and researches and resolves all discrepancies.
• Support: Leads special projects by researching, coordinating, and gathering complex financial information, applying evaluative thinking and independent judgment in interpreting company and accounting policies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required, forming the foundation for a career focused on core accounting principles and practices.
• Experience: Candidates should possess a demonstrated strong understanding and practical application of accounting knowledge, complemented by a thorough grasp of company policies, procedures, and the company marketing plan.
• Skills: Proficiency in computer systems and spreadsheet applications, highly detailed work and organizational abilities, robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively and professionally without constant supervision.
• Bonus: A collaborative approach and active participation in idea sharing, sharp organizational skills to multi-task efficiently in varied situations, consistent quality production under deadline pressure with meticulous attention to detail, strong self-motivation, a deep sense of ownership and accountability for tasks, and the absolute ability to handle confidential company information with discretion.
