Senior Publicist, CBS News | Paramount

The Tone:

This role is crucial in amplifying the reach and impact of CBS News programming and talent by expertly managing their public presence and media engagement within a complex media landscape.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategy: Create and implement press strategies and develop timelines to maximize CBS News programming and talent profiles.
• Media Relations: Pitch to secure feature stories and talent interviews across a variety of media platforms and outlets, including online, print, talk shows, podcasts, and industry panels.
• Internal Alignment: Liaise and align with producers, talent, and key internal departments, including Photo, Marketing, and leadership, to facilitate ongoing publicity support for the News division.
• Event Management: Plan, develop, and execute talent trips, press junkets, on-set media visits, and handle talent appearances at events.
• Content Creation: Write press releases, storylines, bios, and social media copy for News division programming and talent.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior-level Publicist with a Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Publicity, or a related field, demonstrating a deep affinity for news.
• Experience: 4+ years in media relations, with a solid ability to manage deadline pressure and build deep relationships with press across traditional and emerging media platforms.
• Skills: Exemplary communication, writing, and proofreading skills; deep knowledge and insight of culture and social media/digital/online press; creative problem-solving capabilities; and proficient organizational, leadership, and client/talent relations skills with great attention to detail.
• Bonus: A positive attitude, the ability to multitask effectively in high-pressure situations, and a collaborative team player mindset available to support fellow publicists.
