Job Title: SQL Server and Azure Intern

Job Summary: This internship offers a valuable opportunity to support US Anesthesia Partners’ critical data management and cloud infrastructure initiatives. The SQL Server and Azure Intern will gain real-world experience in database administration, query optimization, and Azure cloud platforms. Working closely with experienced professionals, the intern will contribute to live projects involving database maintenance, data pipelines, and cloud migrations.

Internship Details:

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Type: Part-time, Paid Internship
  • Location: Remote (with occasional travel to the Dallas office)
  • Ideal For: Students pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Job Highlights – Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Assists in writing, optimizing, and debugging SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Supports database maintenance tasks, including backups, performance tuning, indexing, and monitoring.
  • Helps manage and configure Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, or other Azure data services.
  • Participates in data migration projects from on-premises SQL Server to Azure cloud environments.
  • Collaborates on building and maintaining simple data pipelines and ETL processes using Azure tools.
  • Monitors database performance and assists in troubleshooting issues.
  • Documents processes, queries, and configurations for team knowledge sharing.
  • Contributes to team meetings and learns best practices in cloud security, scalability, and data integrity.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities – KSAs):

Required:

  • Current enrollment in or recent completion of a Bachelor’s/Master’s program in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of SQL Server (T-SQL queries, basic administration).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure fundamentals (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure portal basics).
  • Basic understanding of database concepts (schemas, normalization, joins).
  • Eagerness to learn and work in a team environment.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to Azure services like Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, or Data Lake.
  • Experience with tools such as SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio) or Azure Data Studio.
  • Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
  • Any relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure Fundamentals AZ-900) or coursework.
