Job Title: The Sports Performance & Analytics Intern
Type: Internship (10–20 hrs/week; 3–6 months, flexible; paid or for-credit)
Summary:
This internship offers hands-on experience in athlete support, performance testing, and analytics, making it ideal for students or early-career candidates passionate about fitness, sport science, and data. The Sports Performance & Analytics Intern will assist coaches and performance staff with daily operations, athlete testing, data collection/analysis, and video review. This role combines practical training-floor experience with foundational analytics work to quantify athlete progress and inform programming decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist coaches during training sessions: set up equipment, supervise drills under coach direction, help run warm-ups/cool-downs.
• Conduct and record performance testing (vertical jump, sprint times, agility tests, strength benchmarks) and ensure data integrity.
• Capture, tag, and organize training and testing video; perform basic video-based movement analysis.
• Enter, clean, and maintain athlete databases and testing spreadsheets.
• Produce regular summary reports and visualizations (charts, tables, brief notes) to show athlete progress.
• Support recovery and mobility sessions under supervision.
• Help manage athlete check-ins, scheduling, and client communications as needed.
• Maintain gym spaces and equipment; follow safety and hygiene protocols.
Qualifications
Required:
• Strong interest in fitness, sports performance, strength & conditioning, or exercise science.
• Desire to learn analytics and apply data to coaching decisions.
• Basic familiarity with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets).
• Reliable, punctual, and professional when interacting with athletes and staff.
• Ability to lift and move equipment (up to ~50 lbs), stand for multi-hour sessions, and work varying hours (early mornings/after-school/evenings).
• Authorized to work in the U.S. (if applicable).
Preferred / Helpful Skills:
• Coursework or experience in kinesiology, exercise science, data analytics, biomechanics, or statistics.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
