Sports Media Intern (Photo + Video)
About the Role:
This role is specifically designed for a passionate individual to support athletic and sports coverage. As a Sports Media Intern, you will be instrumental in capturing high-energy photo and video content for a variety of sports events, including games, tournaments, and post-event recaps.
• Location: This specific role requires a presence in NYC / Westchester, involving a combination of on-site and potentially hybrid work.
• Availability: Candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends, aligning with typical sports event schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
• Shoot photo and video at various sports games and athletic events, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
• Skillfully capture action shots, engaging crowd moments, and compelling athlete features to tell a complete story.
• Proficiently edit highlight reels, game recaps, and dynamic social media clips suitable for various platforms.
• Perform expert retouching on sports photography to ensure high-quality, polished visual content.
• Deliver content on fast post-game timelines, often requiring same-day or next-day turnarounds.
Requirements:
• Education: Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program or have recently completed one.
• Software Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency and hands-on experience with industry-standard editing software, specifically Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
• Transportation: Possess reliable transportation to travel to various sports venues across NYC and Westchester.
• Sports Understanding: A strong understanding of sports dynamics, pacing, and the ability to craft compelling visual narratives is essential.
• Work Schedule: Comfortable and available to work during nights and weekends, as dictated by sports event schedules.
Portfolio Required:
• Applicants must submit a strong portfolio showcasing previous sports photography and/or video samples. This should ideally include examples of highlights, recaps, and action shots.
Expectations:
• Time Commitment: Maintain a consistent commitment of 20–25 hours per week.
• Quality of Work: Produce consistently high-quality, professional, and client-ready photo and video assets.
• Turnaround Times: Meet demanding content delivery deadlines, ranging from same-day to 24–48 hour turnarounds post-event.
• Work Ethic: Thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment, embracing real responsibilities and contributing meaningfully to projects.
• Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling and consistent availability on weekends to cover events.
• Professionalism: Exhibit professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills when interacting with clients, athletes, and team members.
