Position Overview
This is an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic college student or recent graduate passionate about kickstarting a career in sports management, event operations, or facility management. The Sports Management Intern – Event & Facility Operations will be an integral part of our team, playing a crucial role in the day-to-day operational success of our facilities. This is a hands-on position offering real responsibility, where you will be entrusted with managing facility operations and executing events during crucial evening and weekend shifts. Responsibilities
- Facility Management: Execute opening and closing procedures for the facility during scheduled events, rentals, and practices on evenings and weekends.
- Event Setup & Breakdown: Prepare and dismantle fields, including setting up goals, corner flags, benches, and signage to ensure readiness for all activities.
- Event Operations: Actively assist with various aspects of game day and event operations to ensure smooth execution.
- Retail & Sales: Manage concessions and merchandise sales, handling cash transactions and operating the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently during events.
- Maintenance & Upkeep: Conduct cleaning and maintenance tasks for locker rooms, restrooms, spectator stands, and all common areas, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness.
- Beautification: Assist with light landscaping and general facility beautification efforts to maintain an appealing environment.
- Equipment Management: Operate and monitor facility equipment, including turning on/off lights, scoreboards, and other operational systems.
- On-Site Liaison: Serve as the primary on-site point of contact, providing support and assistance to teams, officials, and facility renters.
- Operational Oversight: Help ensure that all events commence and conclude on schedule, and that the facility consistently remains event-ready and fully operational.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Currently enrolled college student or recent graduate (a major in Sports Management, Event Management, Business, or a related field is preferred).
- Industry Interest: Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career within sports or event management.
- Work Ethic: Highly reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with a proactive attitude.
- Availability: Comfortable and available to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Environmental Adaptability: Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Communication Skills: Possesses strong communication and effective problem-solving abilities.
- Independence & Trustworthiness: Capable of working independently and can be trusted with managing facility operations during shifts.
