Job Description: Sports Journalism Intern (Remote) [Fall 2025]
This is a remote, unpaid, and highly selective internship opportunity for students interested in sports journalism, sports marketing, and digital content, particularly those seeking academic credit.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Participate in the production of a live, daily, nationally-syndicated sports talk television show, “Southeast Sports+”.
• Assist with booking guests, gathering information, and creating content.
• Provide assistance to the show’s producer and hosts with other duties as needed.
• Students demonstrating highly exceptional communications skills and presentation confidence may be occasionally selected to present material on-camera.

Qualifications & Requirements:
• Highly Selective: Only ONE (1) Fall 2025 Sports Journalism Intern (Remote) will be selected from each participating college campus.
• Location: Internships are remote, based at your home campus.
• Academic Focus: Students majoring in Sports Journalism at Southeastern Conference (SEC) member universities are especially encouraged to apply. Other majors encouraged include news journalism, social media content & management, communication arts, digital marketing, or similar fields.
• Unpaid & Supervised: All internships are unpaid and supervised. The intern’s station supervisor will oversee performance, evaluate progress, and ensure proper education/training.
• Academic Credit Priority: Students who must earn academic credit to participate will receive priority consideration. Interns are responsible for obtaining and completing any necessary forms from their institution for credit.
• Availability: The intern’s college/university academic advisor determines the amount of credit and weekly availability. The station intern supervisor will establish a work schedule based on the intern’s availability.
• Technical Requirements: The remote intern is responsible for securing access to a computer and the internet for communication and assignment completion.
• Desired Skills & Traits:
• Very strong writing skills (both digital and script-writing).
• Highly organized.
• Highly self-motivated.
• Zero call reluctance and/or approach anxiety.
• Familiarity Required Upon Arrival: Successful applicants should have coursework and/or practical work in:
• Writing: Basic working understanding of AP style & standards for text articles and broadcast scripts.
• Meeting Deadlines: Prepared for a fast-paced environment where assignments change with little notice; ability to participate nimbly and with flexibility.
• Video Editing: Knowledge of how to use a timeline-based software editing program like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
• Video Acquisition: Ability to capture video, natural sound, and interviews on a phone or camera.
