Job Description
Job Title: Sports Analytics Internship Opportunities
Overview:
Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is offering multiple Sports Analytics internship opportunities. By applying to this single posting, candidates will be considered for all available internships within this specific domain.
Location:
These internships will be located in the ATL area. Selected interns will be expected to join the team in the office on a regular cadence, based on the intern manager’s in-office schedule.
Potential Specific Roles (Included but not limited to):
• TNT Sports BI Analyst Intern
• WBD Sports Growth Strategy Engineer Intern
Role Accountabilities / Duties:
Interns’ duties could include:
• Evaluating current data processes and pipelines to identify gaps or areas for enhancement.
• Collaborating with the TNT Sports Data Strategy team and WM Sports Data team to document and align data requirements, business logic, data gaps, and solutions.
• Familiarizing themselves with various technology platforms utilized by WBD Sports Data Strategy.
• Gaining familiarity with various sports brands and business units within each brand (e.g., Bleacher Report; NCAA Shop vs. NCAA March Madness).
Qualifications & Experience:
Essentials Needed (Similar across potential roles, not all must apply to every single role):
• A Bachelor of Science degree in Analytics, Data Science, or Mathematics.
• Experience working with digital consumer data or other large and complex data sets.
• Excellent business and interpersonal communication skills (both written and verbal). This includes the ability to present technical topics clearly and concisely to non-technical colleagues.
• Knowledge of a scripting language such as SQL, Python, or Java.
• Knowledge of various data structures including JSON and XML.
• Experience working with ETL tools like Pentaho or Informatica. General knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) workflows is considered a plus.
Requirements (Strict eligibility criteria):
• Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship. Proof of enrollment will be required.
• Must be a rising Junior or Senior Undergrad Student (18 years or older).
• Must be in academic good standing with a GPA of 3.0 or above. A transcript will be required to verify GPA if an offer is extended.
• Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery now or in the future to retain their authorization to work in the United States. Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc.) will not be eligible for the internship program.
Internship Program Details:
• Duration: The program is 10 weeks long.
• Program Dates:
• Start Date: October 6th
• End Date: December 12th
• Work Schedule: Interns are expected to work 16-24 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.
• Compensation: These are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage.
• Academic Credit: Credit is not required, but WBD will provide necessary documentation for school credit if desired.
• Relocation: Relocation is not provided.
• Interview Process: Interviewing will take place from August through mid-September. A WBD team member will contact applicants whose experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, individual status updates are not provided.
