Job Description

This is a Fall Internship position within Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Emerging Talent Programs, which encompasses Interns, Trainees, and Finance Rotational Associates. These programs offer unique opportunities for students, recent graduates, and emerging talent to engage in meaningful, paid work alongside teams involved in creating movies, TV shows, and other experiences, fostering skill development and providing real-world experience, along with educational and social networking opportunities.

Program Details:
Duration: September through December 12th (start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules).
Work Hours: 10-29 hours/week.
Location: In-person at the specified office location.
Ideal Candidate: A student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university interested in gaining professional experience.
Compensation: The anticipated base salary is $22/hour. This role may also qualify for comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary can vary based on factors such as applicant qualifications, relevant experience, education level, certifications, and location.

Department Description:
The internship is with Sony Pictures US TV Production. This department is actively developing Xpanse, a comprehensive digital solution designed to manage all data related to the development of new TV shows. Xpanse aims to centralize data, eliminate existing data silos and operational inefficiencies. Data from Xpanse will be integrated with information from SPT’s data warehouse on Snowflake to provide strategic views for executive management.

Internship Role:
As an intern on this team, you will be involved in various aspects of the Xpanse project. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather and synthesize business requirements, supporting the development of data tables and new workflows in Airtable, building and deploying executive dashboards using Tableau, and providing basic support for deployed modules. The role also offers an immersive experience into the inner workings of TV production and the transformative power of data analytics.

Key Responsibilities:
Business Requirements & Interface Design: Aid in understanding complex business requirements and assist in transforming them into user-friendly application interfaces using Airtable.
Airtable Development: Assist in the development of underlying data tables and application workflows in Airtable.
Collaboration: Collaborate with senior team members to ensure the interface effectively meets user needs.
Data Conversion: Support data conversion processes to facilitate a smooth transition to Xpanse for different departments, including learning to normalize existing trackers and loading data into Airtable.
Module Support: Provide basic support for live modules, including resolving basic queries and escalating issues as needed.
Dashboard Development: Build user-friendly, self-serve Tableau dashboards utilizing the Snowflake data warehouse.
Cross-functional Liaison: Assist in liaising with cross-functional teams and contribute to end-to-end process flow discussions.
Learning & Initiative: Actively participate in learning sessions, seek opportunities to enhance relevant skills, take initiative to understand different project aspects, and seek clarification when needed.

Required Qualifications:
Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or STEM.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of Airtable or other no-code applications; knowledge of relational data modeling; strong skills in SQL and Tableau; advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as the role requires interaction with production and business development executives.
Analytical Ability: Ability to quickly grasp requirements and convert them into specifications for development.
Curiosity: A strong curiosity in gaining a thorough understanding of the entire TV show development and production business process.

Preferred Qualifications:
Industry Experience: Prior experience working in a TV studio, preferably with experience in building solutions using data.
