Job Description

About the Company:

CMTA, a Legence Company, is a rapidly expanding engineering firm in the U.S. known for its expertise in sustainable, high-performance building engineering. They are described as a collaborative, competitive, innovative, and energetic team that employs a holistic approach to consulting engineering, performance contracting, and zero-energy projects. CMTA focuses on hiring engineers who demonstrate excellence and offers significant growth opportunities.

Their core business, within the Energy Solutions division, is delivering Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs). These contracts enable facility upgrades and renovations to be budget-neutral or even budget-positive by redirecting existing utility spending towards improvements. CMTA boasts unparalleled knowledge in the Guaranteed ESPC market, having designed many of the nation’s most energy-efficient buildings, including numerous zero-energy facilities, allowing them to provide deeper insights than competitors.

CMTA is part of Legence, a Blackstone Portfolio Company. Legence is North America’s leading integrated provider of energy efficiency and sustainability solutions for the built environment. Legence aims to enhance building performance, making spaces healthier and more sustainable by decreasing operating costs, reducing carbon emissions, and improving occupant well-being. They offer a comprehensive suite of “Stackable Solutions™” across the entire building lifecycle, from advisory services and design to construction and maintenance. With over a century of experience, Legence serves mission-critical and essential sectors like data centers, semiconductors, life sciences, healthcare, and education.

Job Description:

This description outlines a robust co-op program offered by CMTA Energy Solutions, specifically for college students pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree. The program aims to provide an immersive, hands-on experience in Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracting for two or more semesters, developing students into full-time caliber employees. Unlike typical rotational programs, CMTA’s co-op program is designed for co-ops to take on challenging projects and stand out. Co-ops will be involved in multiple Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts, contributing to every stage from initial development through implementation. This offers varied experiences, whether focusing on identifying and calculating energy savings, developing renovation documents, or gaining hands-on field experience. All work is done collaboratively with full-time engineers and under the direct supervision of Professional Engineers.

The specific focus here is on a Solar Co-op position. This role offers direct hands-on experience with photovoltaic (PV) systems, with the goal that by the end of the program, co-ops will have the skills to deliver a complete photovoltaic design from scratch. The Solar Co-op will directly support solar project managers.
